Untitled Space
In Non-Places: Introduction to an Anthropology of Supermodernity, Marc Augé (1995) coins the term ‘non-places’ to describe spaces designed to be passed through rather than engaged with. Non- places are typically associated with transit, and therefore lack the significance to be regarded as authentic places.
These frottage prints document a space local to me in South London. Frottage is a process that forces you to interact with the space, and it leaves evidence of this interaction in the work. The viewer has a sense of the experience being recorded in them.
